2016 was a superb growing season in Napa Valley and this truly wonderful Cabernet Sauvignon (with a splash of Cab. Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot) showcases the very best of wines from the iconic Rutherford region. The “Salus” project was set up to support brain health research by the Staglin family and hence, the proceeds from the sale of each bottle help support this cause. The wine appears ripe and dark in the glass with an intoxicating herbal aroma. On the palate, there are rich and deep black and blue fruit flavours with some gorgeous hints of spice and earthiness on the back-end. The wine will gain additional depth and complexity with more time in the bottle and I would suggest drinking by around 2032.
